The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday apprehended an alleged human trafficker who prepared fake documents for 250 people for acquiring the United States visa. A senior official of FIA said that the agency's Islamabad zone carried out a raid and arrested a human smuggler Raja Rafique, a resident of Kotli, Azad Kashmir, who had allegedly prepared fake documents for hundreds of people for acquiring the US visa. The accused took $9000 from each applicant for the purpose.

He said that the agency on December 20 came to know that a large number of applications had been submitted to the US embassy visa section through fake documents. Following investigation, it was found that around 250 applications were submitted by different visa applicants and 50 applicants succeeded to obtain visa fraudulently, he added.

The official said that all applicants had used similar method for obtaining visas and provided fake information regarding their addresses, contact numbers and sponsors in the US. The FIA intercepted one of the applicants and he disclosed that all the documents required for visa were prepared by an agent Raja Shafique after getting $9000 against each application, he added.

Another applicant, Khizer Hayat, during investigation revealed that all his documents were prepared by Shafique against payment of $20000. The FIA also arrested seven human smugglers and proclaimed offenders in different areas of Punjab and recovered passports, fake documents and stamps from their possession. The official said that the FIA and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had jointly busted Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) in Jhang. It also recovered seven gateways and other digital media and arrested two persons.
